How to Find a Psychologist in Canada

virtual psychologist ontario

Are you looking for a psychologist in Ontario, BC or Alberta? What about New Brunswick or Manitoba?

Finding a psychologist is not always the easiest task!

We’ve scoured the internet to compile a list of provincial/territorial directory listings of registered psychologists. While this is not an exhaustive list of all the registered psychologists in these locations, these listings can at least give you a head start on your search.

Some people prefer to find a psychologist who speaks the same language as them or focuses on treating a specific issue. Many of these directories allow you to search for registered psychologists with these different specifications. Keep in mind that you might be limited in the number of psychologists you can choose from if you pick several criteria, especially in smaller regions. Given the popularity of virtual therapy, many of these directories can also filter psychologists who offer virtual services if that is your preference.

We strongly recommend doing additional research into psychologists you are interested in potentially seeing. This can be done by reviewing their websites, reading their online posts/articles and even scheduling a complementary consultation call (many psychologists offer this) or contacting their office if you have questions. Wishing you the best of luck in finding a psychologist that meets your needs!

We also have psychologists on our team and we provide virtual sessions, if you are interested in seeing one of our psychologists contact us!

The College of Psychologists of Ontario also has a larger directory of all psychologists registered in Ontario, however this register also includes psychologists who are inactive/not currently working as a psychologist. So, if you choose to use this tool, make sure you select the option “Members Authorized to Provide Services” under Member Status. If you want to find a psychologist in Toronto or a psychologist in Brampton, you can also use the city search field to narrow down your search.

Unfortunately, according to information provided by this psychological society, psychological services are regulated in every other province and territory except the Yukon.
